The conference will be held at the University of Versailles and the Polish Library in Paris.
The conference will be organised in plenary and parallel sessions. We thus invite papers on a wide variety of topics which may include but may not be limited to:
- Under Western Eyes -- for special issues of The Conradian, the journal of the JCS(UK) and L’Epoque Conradienne, the journal of the French Conradian Society on the centenary of its publication in 2011.
- Comparative studies: Conrad and his French influences; Conrad and his posterity; Conrad and (post)colonial literatures
- Conrad and Modernism
- Conrad and politics
- Conrad and philosophy
- Conrad and theory
- Conrad and popular culture
- Film adaptations
Abstracts (300 words approx.) should be sent to veronique.pauly@wanadoo.fr before April 30, 2010. Prospective speakers will be notified of a decision by the end of May.
Papers should be in English and should not exceed 25 mins.
A selection of papers will be published in The Conradian and L’Epoque Conradienne.
Organising panel: Véronique Pauly (Senior Lecturer University of Versailles-St Quentin), Nathalie Martinière (Prof. University of Limoges); Owen Knowles (Senior Research Fellow, University of Hull).
